Fans stormed the field in celebration following USC’s 20-17 upset win against No. 4 Stanford, but a few were carted off the area thanks to medical staff.

At least five people were injured during the postgame melee, including one person who broke an ankle and another who was injured in a fall.

There were also reports of someone suffering symptoms from elevated blood pressure and another with issues created by diabetes.

Katherine Main of the LA City Fire Department said calls about the injured started coming in at 8:33 p.m.

"They normally control it so people don’t get onto the field, but this time I think there was just so much excitement they let the people go," USC fan Joe Sullivan told the local NBC affiliate.

USC broke a 17-17 tie with 19 seconds remaining when kicker Andre Heidari hit a 47-yard field goal. Stanford ran one play following the ensuing kickoff and then fans ran onto the field to celebrate the upset victory.

Five other people were injured during the game, but there were no specifics released about those injuries. All of those injured are said to be in stable condition.
