Report: Everett Golson will be readmitted to Notre Dame on Dec. 13

Seven months after Everett Golson was suspended by Notre Dame for cheating on an exam, the quarterback will be returning to the Fighting Irish, ESPN reports.

Brian Kelly said Tuesday that he’s been told that Golson will be re-admitted to the university on Dec. 13 and a school official confirmed to ESPN that “a mid-December timeline for Golson’s return has been established.”

“I’ve been assured that based upon all of the information that has been provided that he’s going to be readmitted on Dec. 13,” Kelly said. “It’s just a matter of them sending out the admittance letter and then being back on campus sometime around the 15th of December.”

The Fighting Irish (8-4) will be preparing for a to-be-determined bowl game when Golson is readmitted, but he will not be allowed to practice or travel with the team.

Golson has been training with quarterback coach George Whitfield since the suspension. He had the option to transfer to another school or play for a junior college, but he said all along that he planned to return to South Bend.

In 2012, Golson threw for 2,045 yards and 12 touchdowns while running for six more as he led the Fighting Irish to an undefeated season and National Championship appearance.
