There has been talk of Penn State installing brand new scoreboards with high-definition video boards at Beaver Stadium over the past few years, and now it seems like the plans are finally coming to fruition.
Crews have been hard at work throughout the offseason, and now the program offered a brief glimpse at the enormous Nittany Lion logo that will be installed on the new and improved scoreboards.

The installation is supposed to be ready for the team’s 2014 home opener against Akron on Sept. 6. The $10 million project, which will utilize “the latest LED technology,” includes full screen, high-definition video panels, an upgraded sound system, closed captioning boards and the back-lit logo pictured above.
This upgrade is the first for the scoreboards, which were installed in 2000 as part of the stadium expansion that increased its capacity beyond the 100,000 mark.
It will be a welcome improvement for Penn State fans.
