If you have an extra $16,000 lying around, then you can own an infamous piece of Ohio State football history: Terrelle Pryor’s 2008 Big Ten Championship ring.
Ebay sellerbumpininc lists the ring, which Pryor notoriously traded for tattoos, at $16,499 and says it was purchased from Ed Rife of Fine Line Ink, you know, the tattoo artist who was involved in Ohio State’s NCAA violations.
The listing reads:
This may be the single most famous piece of Ohio State memorabilia available! This ring was the start of the Tattoo Scandal involving former Ohio State players Terrelle Pryor, Boom Herron, Devier Posey, Mike Adams, Solomon Thomas, former coach Jim Tressel, and tattoo shop owner Ed Rife. This ring was originally owned by Terrelle Pryor, former quarterback for THE Ohio State Buckeyes and current starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders. It was given to Edward Rife in exchange for tattoos, although Rife contends that he purchased the ring from Pryor.
This exact ring sold on eBay back in early June for $18,100. I purchased this ring directly from Edward Rife, the owner of Fine Line Ink Tattoos, who was the primary individual involved in the Ohio State Tattoo Scandal controversy. According to Rife, this ring was the first item that he ever received from Terrelle Pryor... And the rest is history!
I purchased several other items from Mr. Rife including signed pants, footballs, gloves, helmets, etc. I have also included pictures of some of my other Buckeye memorabilia to ensure you that I do not deal with fakes. The ring has Pryor's name engraved on the side with a #2, and OSU 42 M 7. Also, inside the ring is the engraving "Sacred Brotherhood No Regrets".
If you remember (I’m sure you do), the scandal caused Jim Tressel to be fired, Pryor to withdraw from the university, and the subsequent NCAA sanctions prevented an undefeated 2012 Buckeye team from participating in any bowl game last year.
