Cowboys and Longhorns go coast-to-coast on back-to-back returns

Anything Oklahoma State can do, Texas can do better — at least when it comes kickoff returns.

To open the third quarter of Saturday's game, Oklahoma State's Justin Gilbert took the second half kickoff 100 yards to give the Cowboys a 28-10 lead. Gilbert tied an Oklahoma State school record with his fourth career kick return for a touchdown.

Not to be outdone, Texas' Fozzy Whittaker returned Oklahoma State's subsequent kickoff 100 yards to cut the Cowboys' lead back to two scores. It was Whittaker second 100-yard kickoff return in as many weeks, following his wire-to-wire sprint in last week's otherwise dismal loss at the hands of Oklahoma. Whittaker actually outraced the kicker on the sideline to get into the end zone, giving his return slightly more cachet than Gilbert's.
