Will Muschamp has choice words for Bob Stoops and his SEC criticisms

Some rivalries never die, even when you move on to another school.

Florida coach Will Muschamp, who was the defensive coordinator at Texas, took exception to Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops’ comments regarding the SEC and his assertion that it wasn’t the super conference many say it is.

Shocking that a coach with Texas ties would disagree with the head coach of the Longhorns’ arch rival.

Here’s what Stoops told the Tulsa World this week:

“So they’ve had the best team in college football. They haven’t had the whole conference. Because, again, half of ‘em haven’t done much at all. I’m just asking you. You tell me.

“So you’re listening to a lot of propaganda that gets fed out to you. You’re more than smart enough to figure it out. Again, you can look at the top two, three, four, five, six teams, and you can look at the bottom six, seven, eight, whatever they are. How well are they all doing?”

Dr. Saturday’s Frank Schwab laid out a lengthy rebuttal to Stoops’ logic, but Muschamp took a more succinct approach when asked about it.

“I’d be saying the same thing if I were in the Big 12,” Muschamp joked. “I said it for three years.”

The SEC has won seven consecutive national championships and this past bowl season, Texas A&M, of the SEC, walloped Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. The Big 12’s last national title came courtesy of Texas in 2005 and Oklahoma won one in 2000.
