Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen crushes competition … in chicken wing eating contest

College football coaches are always on the move. There's always film to watch, a recruit to call or a practice to run.

Therefore, they don't want to waste much time on meals. Perhaps this was Dan Mullen's training ground for his next career as a competitive eater.

During the Mississippi State coach's weekly radio show at a Buffalo Wild Wings, he entered a chicken wing eating contest. The fans there probably thought the coach was joining them to be nice and have some fun. They had no idea he was a ringer.

Mullen pounded down 24 (!!!) wings in five minutes to win the contest, before going back on air to finish his show, The Clarion-Ledger reports.

"We'll keep this challenge out there for the years to come, hopefully," Mullen said. "Every once in a while we'll do this challenge and I'm going to hopefully keep my title as wing eating champion. … Not that I'm competitive or anything."

We want a camera in Mississippi State's locker room for halftime of its next game to see the players root on Mullen devouring as many orange slices as he can before the second half. Because Mullen can put down the food, it appears. After the 24 wings, Mullen sounded like he was going to flag down a waitress to order a dozen Caribbean Jerk wings to go:

"I probably could eat a couple more, even," Mullen said. "I could have kept going a little bit longer."

Let's see Nick Saban or Les Miles top that.
