Michigan signee Reon Dawson: ‘Until I die, I’m gonna be a Buckeye fan’

It’s the awkward moment when a recruit signs with one school, but you realize he has a mad crush on the rival.

That’s Reon Dawson’s story as he professed his love for Ohio State after faxing his national letter of intent to Michigan.

“Until I die, I’m gonna be a Buckeye fan, even though I’m going (to Michigan)," Dawson told the Dayton Daily News. "When we play (OSU), I’m gonna still bring my ‘A’ game. But I love Ohio State.”

Um, then why pick Michigan?

Dawson, a three-star cornerback from Trotwood-Madison High in Ohio, didn’t have an offer from Ohio State, but flipped his commitment from Illinois to Michigan at the last minute. Of the two schools, Michigan is the better choice in terms of wins, but if you’re a diehard Ohio State fan, wouldn’t you rather eat your own shoe than wear maize and blue?

I’m sure Dawson’s words will go over well with his new teammates and coaches. Even head coach Brady Hoke, who is from Dayton, Ohio, refuses to call his rival university, "Ohio State," referring to it only as “Ohio.” And now he has a kid on his roster who will probably have a Fathead of Urban Meyer in his dorm room?

Yeah, I see a transfer in Dawson's future.
