The 6-foot-4, 350-pound Valentine was a four-star recruit and rated as the No. 59 overall prospect in the 2014 class by Rivals.com. He redshirted his only season at LSU and Tigers head coach Les Miles said in April that Valentine was having academic issues.

From The Advocate:

Valentine, a Miami native, was never ruled eligible by the NCAA for a game last season, and he did not participate in spring practice while serving what seemed to be an academic suspension.

LSU coach Les Miles said after the spring game in April that Valentine had to “do some things academically that he failed to do. We’re doing everything we can to assist him.”

Valentine is reportedly headed to junior college.

Valentine is the third member of LSU’s 2014 class to leave the school this offseason. Four-star linebacker Clifton Garrett opted to transfer last month and three-star defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao was dismissed after an arrest for battery and robbery.
