Louisville to wear 'Uncaged Cardinal' uniforms against Auburn

The Cardinals are coming out of the cage for Louisville's first game of 2015.

Yeah, we know, Cardinals aren't normally kept as pets in cages. We're trying not to take this too literally.

Adidas has unveiled the uniforms for Louisville's season-opener on September 5 against Auburn. The "Uncaged Cardinal" uniforms feature a giant depiction of a Cardinal on the helmet and silver numbers on white uniforms.

At the center of the design, the helmet features the new Uncaged Cardinal on one side, while a chrome and red English "L" pays homage to Louisville's heritage on the other side. Further infusing the new theme, the shoulders of the jersey feature chrome and red wings – symbolizing the Uncaged Cardinal in flight, which accent the chrome lettering and numbering outlined in bold red on the jersey, while the pants showcase a chrome and red English "L" on the left leg to match the helmet.

Adidas also says the uniforms are the company's new Primeknit design, which is the latest iteration of TechFit. The cleats are 8.1 ounces. Here are pics of the uniforms below. The cardinal looks, uh, possessed.
