Just five days after being issued a citation for shoplifting crab legs and crawfish, Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jameis Winston has been reinstated to the Florida State baseball team, the Associated Press is reporting. Winston, a relief pitcher and outfielder, was suspended from the team and instructed to enter a program which requires 20 hours of community service.

The school confirmed Sunday that Winston had completed his community service and was reinstated to the team after missing a three-game series against Minnesota over the weekend. He was spotted in the Florida State dugout during the third game of the series on Sunday.

Winston was issued the citation Tuesday after leaving a Publix supermarket without paying for $32 worth of crab legs and crawfish. Winston reportedly admitted that he did not pay for the food and told police that he forgot to pay.

After the Leon County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference detailing the charges on Wednesday, Winston released a statement.

"As reported in the news, last night I received an adult civil citation for petit theft from a local supermarket," Winston's statement said. "I went to the supermarket with the intent to purchase dinner but made a terrible mistake for which I’m taking full responsibility. In a moment of youthful ignorance, I walked out of the store without paying for one of my items. I realize that I am in the public spotlight and my conduct needs to be above reproach. I make no excuses for my actions and will learn and grow from this unfortunate situation.”

In 16 appearances out of the bullpen, Winston is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and five saves for the No. 6 Seminoles.

As a redshirt freshman on the gridiron, Winston led Florida State to a 14-0 record and the BCS national championship while throwing for 4,057 yards and 40 touchdowns.
