Florida State's Jameis Winston Twitter Q&A went predictably sideways
Sunday morning, Florida State football had a seemingly innocent question for Twitter users.
#Noles Fans: Do you have a question for our starting QB Jameis Winston? Tweet us using #AskJameis.
— FSU Football (@FSU_Football) August 10, 2014
But this is Twitter. Unmoderated social media question and answer sessions never go well. Just look at what happened when the GOP asked people what their top issues were.
With that in mind and given the off-field incidents that have surrounded Winston throughout his Florida State career like his citation for shoplifing crab legs and crawfish and sexual assault allegations, there was no way that Florida State's question wasn't going to lead to trouble.
Sure, some people tried to keep it tailored to the events of the upcoming season. But that was a small minority. Most of the tweets with the #AskJameis hashtag had nothing to do with football at all.
Here are some of the ones that are fit to include. If you want to see all of the craziness, click the hashtag above.
“@FSU_Football: Do you have a question for our starting QB Jameis Winston? Tweet us using #AskJameis.” Were the crab legs good? #AskJameis
