The Florida State Seminoles are fresh off of a National Championship and will soon be reaping the benefits. The school announced Wednesday that everything from the team locker room to coaches offices and meeting rooms will be renovated starting in April.

"What we wanted to do was take the momentum of this year with the national championship and incorporate some of these ideas we had to redo the stuff the players and staff use every day," director of football operations Mark Robinson said. "Every day they use the locker room, they use the meeting room space, and coaches' offices. So what we wanted to do was come in and completely redesign all that area and rejuvenate it."

The “centerpiece” of the renovations will be the upgraded locker room. According to a release, the locker room will feature “state of the art graphics and technology that honors Florida State’s legacy of elite athletes.”

“We wanted (the locker room) to be unique, we wanted it to be the showcase of this facility,” Robinson said.

Robinson said that those in charge of designing the locker room will take the best aspects of the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys respective locker rooms in order to assemble a top notch locker room for the FSU program. The locker room will also feature statues of players whose numbers are retired by the program like Deion Sanders, Charlie Ward, and Chris Weinke.

“The focal point is going to be statues of all the players whose jerseys are currently retired,” Robinson said. “So when you see some of these retired jerseys, their jersey will actyally stay lit the whole time. The number will always be lit, and that’s the belief behind the fact that you’re sharing a locker with all the great players who played here at Florida State.”

Among other renovations to the building will include displays of the program’s history and a College GameDay set that celebrates “the history of Florida State on ESPN’s national pre-game show.”

Renovations will begin in mid-April.
