A little more than a year ago, Kevin “Otis” Green, a manager for the Wisconsin football team was killed in a car accident. Now, his father, Clancy Green, is trying to create an endowment scholarship in his honor.

Last June, Green got into a car driven by Danny Consolo. Consolo was drunk, veered the car off the road and into a tree. Of the five people in the car, Green was the only one killed. Consolo is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty in May to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

Green had just graduated from Wisconsin and was about to start a job with Amazon.

But Clancy Green doesn’t want the university to forget how much his son loved the Badgers.

He established the Otis Green Foundation and its mission is to raise $250,000 to fully endow a yearly scholarship for a Wisconsin football student manager.

“I know Kevin would be very happy to be helping his peers in their educational goals,” Clancy Green told the Wisconsin State Journal. “He thoroughly enjoyed working as a student manager and I know he would want to give back. This is our means of doing that.”

But the Foundation has a long way to go.

It’s already had a couple fundraising events in the form of a golf outing and a dinner cruise and has another golf outing planned for next week. It’s a slow process, but Clancy Green is committed to making Kevin’s memory a lasting one with Wisconsin football.

“I’m confident we’ll get it done,” Clancy Green said. “I can’t say how long it’s going to take us but we are dedicated to getting it completed. It might be next year, it might be five years from now, but we’re going continue working on it and see it through.”
