Duke has definitely been one of the most surprising teams of the season to this point. The Blue Devils are 7-2 overall and 3-2 in ACC play and most notably knocked off Virginia Tech on October 26, who were ranked No. 14 at the time.
Saturday, Duke kept up its winning ways with a dramatic comeback victory over NC State. Trailing 20-17 with less than four minutes to go, the Blue Devils surged ahead on a five-yard touchdown run by Brandon Connette to take a 24-20 lead with 3:31 to go. Only ten seconds later, with NC State attempting to reclaim the lead, Duke redshirt freshman defensive back DeVon Edwards intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown. Sixteen seconds later on the subsequent offensive snap from the Wolfpack, Edwards intercepted another pass and scored again, the team's third touchdown in a 26-second span, to put the game out of reach at 38-20.
For Edwards, those were his second and third scores of the game. His first came on a 100-yard kickoff return in the third quarter. Edwards also registered 10 tackles on the day and became the first FBS player in a decade to score three non-offensive touchdowns in a single game.
The Blue Devils host No. 23 Miami on Saturday and will look to extend its winning streak to six.
