Could LSU football and Tyrann Mathieu reconcile in 2013?

Is Tyrann Mathieu working his way back into the heart of LSU coach Les Miles?

Miles appeared on the Scott Van Pelt Show on Tuesday and was asked if "there is a chance [Mathieu] has a happy ending with the LSU football family?"

While Miles didn't exactly come out and say Mathieu was going to be back on the team in 2013, he certainly left the door open for rampant speculation.

"I think that this is a very legitimate chance that he would have a happy ending.

"I think the point of degree, and the point of handling your business and making sure everything is right and correct, and getting your feet on the ground -- I think that that is a tremendously happy ending."

Mathieu was dismissed during the summer after failing multiple drug tests. He checked into a rehab clinic in Houston, received mentoring and re-enrolled at LSU as a student with his eyes set on getting his degree. He was even seen cheering the Tigers on from the stands.

At the time of his dismissal, there was speculation that Mathieu could be back, but Miles seemingly squashed the notion. But now, even Miles' own beat writers are wondering whether time heals all wounds.

"So if I can decipher Les Miles-ese, and I've gotten pretty good at it, Tyrann Mathieu is on his way back to #LSU in 2013," tweeted New Orleans Times-Picayune beat writer Randy Rosetta.
