This has to thrill Steve Spurrier.
After losing five straight to Spurrier's South Carolina Gamecocks, Clemson has installed clocks counting down to the South Carolina game inside of its football facilities.
Clemson QB Cole Stoudt told me there's a clock in each position's meeting room counting down time until Nov. 29 game against South Carolina.— Larry Williams (@LarryWilliamsTI) March 6, 2014
In case you were wondering, the in-state rivals play on Nov. 29, so there are 267 days until the game as of now.
No, we will not be running a countdown post every day here on Dr. Saturday. Though maybe we should, given how entertaining the war of words between Spurrier and Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has become. They've both embraced that a rivalry should involve some verbal jousting, even if South Carolina has had the upper hand in recent years.
In 2013, South Carolina beat Clemson 31-17. Both Clemson and South Carolina each won its bowl game. After winning the Capital One Bowl, Spurrier got in a dig at his team's dominance of Clemson. And when Clemson won the Orange Bowl, Swinney made sure to point out his team was the only team from South Carolina to win a BCS bowl.
We're on board with this wrestling match idea. And we're also eagerly awaiting Spurrier's response to Clemson's clocks. It'll probably be worthy of the Tigers posting on the wall next to the countdown.
