Cartel Brooks, a junior running back for Division-III Heidelberg University in Ohio, set an NCAA record Saturday with 465 yards rushing. Brooks’ accomplishment is not just a Division-III record. 465 yards on the ground is the most by one player in any NCAA game ever.
Brooks set the record on 38 carries in the Student Princes’ (yes, the school’s team is called the Student Princes) 41-14 win over Baldwin Wallace University. He passed the previous mark of 455 yards, which was set by Octavias McKoy of Western Connecticut just three weeks ago.
Brooks broke off touchdown runs of 81, 41, and 13 yards in the win. The performance gave Brooks 1,704 yards for the season, the most in school history.
Cartel Brooks finishes regular season with a school-record 1,704 yards. That's 56 yards shy of a mile. #BergPride

Heidelberg, ranked No. 18 in D-III, finished the regular season with an 8-2 record.
Sportscenter anchor John Buccigross, one of Heidelberg’s more famous alums, showed Brooks some love after the game.
