One Alabama bar is preparing for Saturday’s game between the Crimson Tide and Texas A&M by allowing its customers to try and beat A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel before the game even begins.
Otey’s Tavern has constructed a 30-inch “Johnny Piñata,” which has a Sharpie in one hand, a fan of cash in the other and a dollar sign over the No. 2 on his jersey.
According to al.com, the bar plans to allow patrons a chance to whack the piñata during its Wednesday trivia night. If it’s still standing at the end of the night, the piñata will make another appearance on game day.
Manziel has become a polarizing figure in college football because his on-filed play is matched only by his off-field antics. However, he holds a special place in Alabama lore as the only quarterback to orchestrate a win against the Crimson Tide last season. His play pretty much won him the Heisman Trophy and nearly ousted Alabama from national title contention.
While patrons at Otey's will have little trouble putting hits on Johnny Piñata, Alabama defenders might have a tougher time in College Station this weekend.
