4 Utah State players involved in auto accident Friday

Four Utah State football players were hospitalized after they were involved in a car crash Friday.

The players, defensive linemen Adewale Adeoye, Edmund Faimalo, Travis Seefeldt and John Taylor, were in a car with former Utah State softball player Sarah Vasquez. According to Utah State football coach Matt Wells, the players will all be OK "eventually." None of the injuries to the five are considered life-threatening.

From the Logan Herald-Journal:

“I’ve seen all four of our guys today and gotten reports back from Sarah that (she’s improving), but all of those guys are stable and trying to rest and recover,” Wells said in an interview with The Herald Journal late Saturday afternoon. “Bottom line is they’re in a lot of pain and discomfort, but they’re very fortunate and we all are fortunate that they’re alive and they’re going to be OK eventually.”

A statement from Utah State also said all five athletes were stable. Seefeldt was flown from the scene to the hospital while Vasquez was later flown to a different hospital after being transported with the three others by ambulance.

Adeoye posted this picture to Instagram with the caption of "All I can say is ... God is so good. Thank you everyone for the support I wouldn't be here without guys."

The SUV the five were in collided with a tractor trailer in Trenton, Utah. They went through an intersection and were hit by the truck. Seefeldt was driving the SUV and the truck was carrying 52,000 pounds of milk. A spokesperson for the Utah Highway Patrol said Seefeldt might have thought it was a two-way stop when it was a four-way stop and the preliminary findings were the occupants of the SUV were not wearing seatbelts.

The same spokesperson offered a blunt assessment of the crash to Salt Lake City Fox 13.

“The fact that they didn’t have seatbelts on, getting T-boned by a semi truck, they’re just lucky they’re alive,” said Lt. Lee Perry of UHP.

Here's what the SUV they were riding in looked like after the crash.

Seefeldt had 35 tackles in 2014 while Taylor had nine tackles. They're set to be seniors in 2015. Faimalo is a redshirt junior who transferred from Riverside City College while Adeoye is a redshirt freshman.
