President Obama and the first lady leave surprise notes for Maryland’s women’s team

Before President Obama's visit to the Comcast Center for Sunday's Maryland-Oregon State men's basketball game, members of the Terrapins women's team learned he and the first lady might be holding a pregame meet-and-greet in their locker room.

As a result, they left notes on two whiteboards saying hello on the off chance the Obamas would see it.

Much to the surprise of the Terps, the President and first lady not only spotted the notes but also took time to respond. Wrote President Obama, "Thanks, Terps, and good luck!" Wrote Michelle Obama, "Thanks for all your great work. We are proud of you!"

Maryland spokeswoman Rose DiPaula said Maryland has no plans as of yet to unscrew the whiteboards and mount them on the wall, but it wouldn't be a surprise if that changes soon. Those are keepsakes worth preserving.
