North Carolina-bound Theo Pinson leaps over his mom in a dunk contest

Most players ask a teammate when they need a prop in a dunk contest. Theo Pinson went against the grain and asked his mother instead.

The 6-foot-6 North Carolina-bound small forward risked being grounded for weeks during the Under Armour Elite 24 dunk contest Friday night when he had his mother stand in the paint facing the rim and then attempted to leap over her. Thankfully, Pinson cleared his mom with ease and threw down a nice one-handed slam to capture first place.

Pinson's dunk was definitely creative but he isn't the first to attempt it. Wagner forward Josh Thompson pulled off a similar slam at Midnight Madness two years ago, leaping over his mother to win the school's dunk contest.

Credit both moms for their bravery but I can't help hoping this doesn't become a dunk contest trend. Otherwise one of these days, a player is going to clip his mom and they're going to crumple to the ground in a heap.
