Division II school makes 'SportsCenter' with off-backboard dunk

It's fitting that the University of Bridgeport was playing Mercy on Wednesday night because the Purple Knights didn't show any.

Instead of running out the clock with a lead of almost 40 points in the final minute, Bridgeport players played to the crowd in transition. The result was the highlight-worthy off-the-backboard slam below from 5-foot-10 junior guard Sandy Tanner to 6-foot-2 junior guard Omari Howard.

Don't be too harsh on the Bridgeport kids for having a little fun. Making SportsCenter's Top Plays had to be a special moment for this Division II school in Connecticut, and especially for Tanner and Howard, both reserve guards who average 12.3 and 8.8 minutes per game, respectively.

Send your sympathy, however, to Mercy. The 100-61 loss dropped the Division II Flyers to 1-20 on the season.
