Prized recruit tweets texts he received from four prominent coaches

When coveted Class of 2014 point guard Dominic Magee received texts from a handful of prominent college coaches at the end of the July evaluation period last week, the Louisiana product tweeted screen grabs of each of them.

Needless to say, the texts were revealing about each coach's recruiting style.

Oklahoma State head coach Travis Ford uses more exclamation points than the average 13-year-old girl -- 12 in one text to be precise. Ford also touts his track record for getting players to the NBA as "proven" even though the only Cowboys player in the NBA that he coached, James Anderson, has been waived by three teams in the past year. Hmmm, at least Marcus Smart and perhaps Markel Brown and LeBryan Nash should change that soon.

Oklahoma assistant Chris Crutchfield insists the Sooners will get Magee shots despite Lon Kruger's team ranking 146th in possessions per 40 minutes last season and seventh in the 10-team Big 12. It would be nice to know what YouTube clip Crutchfield sent Magee, but the video is current unavailable.

The texts from Alabama assistant John Brannen and Colorado assistant Rod Billups are more casual and less needy. Brannen sets up a phone conversation for later that evening with Magee, while Billups introduces himself and requests that Magee save his number in his phone.

The consensus among recruiting analysts is that Oklahoma State has a slight lead for Magee, and something about these texts lends validation to that theory.

Ford's number is saved in Magee's phone. The numbers of the rest of the coaches are not.
