Dubbed the “AARP Group” by coach Randy Wittman, some of Washington's elder statesmen, including Al Harrington and Drew Gooden, were pivotal in the Wizards’ 104-94 victory over the Jazz on Wednesday.
Talking about his all-around game as a 30-something-year-old, Harrington says, “Yeah, I still got the package, I just got old. So just every once in a while, you’ll just get flashes.”
This 30-something trio, that includes Marcin Gortat, came to Washington with the mindset that they’ll do anything to help this team reach their goals, and that means a strong postseason push.
“The good thing is that we’re in a winning situation and whatever it is for me to help this team reach their goal, I’m going to do it. Whatever my role is, I’ll accept it and use that to my full potential,” Gooden told the media.
