Simplify the game: Trent Richardson’s value extends past ground game

We fantasy-focused folk see the Colts' trade for Trent Richardson and begin calculating the potential for astronomical rushing yards and numerous trips to the end zone. But there is more value to Indianapolis's new running back then just an improved ground game.

Mike Florio says the Colts traded for Richardson, in part, to protect quarterback Andrew Luck by creating a running game that will keep opposing defenses on their toes. The balance they're able to strike between the run and pass will be tested this weekend against the 49ers as Richardson takes the field for the first time with his new team.
