Mad Dash: The coach that helped inspire FNL's Coach Taylor

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose. The famous line echoed by Coach Eric Taylor in the Friday Night Lights television series has become a part of football language in the U.S. It was one of many moments and lines that made Taylor a role model for coaches and players throughout the sport. However, the man who brought that character to life, Kyle Chandler, reveals he knew very little about coaching and football before taking the role. So when he went looking for inspiration for how to craft the fictional football coach that would become the envy of so many, he read Bill Belichick's biography. On one hand, you'd be hard-pressed to find another coach that's built as many winning teams. On the other, much more surprising hand, Belichick doesn't quite have the warm reputation that fans associate with the fictional Taylor. We're guessing there was some compromise on personality in the process, for which everyone is grateful. Still, Chandler admits he only learned so much, and still couldn't "coach my way out of a paper bag."

Kevin Garnett is really enjoying his return to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He's enjoying it so much that he'd like to thank the fans for their warm welcome. He's doing that by giving away 1,000 tickets for Monday's game against the Clippers. The first 500 fans to the Timberwolves' site on Monday at 9 a.m. were handed a pair of tickets, ensuring the Garnett return keeps running on positive vibes.

Albero is walking to honor his nephew, who was killed in the September 11 attacks on New York, and to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, with the help of the Yankees, his nephew's favorite team. If all goes well, Richard will make it to home plate at Yankee Stadium in early June.
