Dustin Johnson caddying for Paulina Gretzky, playing golf in Idaho

Dustin Johnson is not at this week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla, but he’s also not where you might expect.

Golf Channel Insider Tim Rosaforte reported Wednesday night that Johnson is at a golf resort in Northern Idaho, spending time with his fiancé, Paulina Gretzky, and her family.

After Johnson skipped the WGC-Bridgestone last week for “personal reasons,” his agent, David Winkle, issued a statement that Johnson would be taking a leave of absence from the PGA Tour to overcome "personal challenges." A day later, Golf.com reported according to a source that Johnson is serving a six-month suspension for a positive cocaine test, which the Tour subsequently denied.

“Most thought [the announcement] was a hint that he was going to a treatment center,” Rosaforte said on Wednesday’s edition of “Live From the PGA.” “Instead, he’s been up in Northern Idaho at Gozzer Ranch [Golf and Lake Club], hanging out with the Gretzky family, caddying for Paulina in the club’s ladies’ member-guest, and playing a lot of golf, playing almost every day.

“He shot 61 this week, could have been a 59.”

Rosaforte added that Winkle would not directly confirm to Golf Channel Johnson’s specific whereabouts “but did say that he’s been in touch with [Johnson] every day, that he’s in good spirits, and that he appreciates all the support he’s received from the people on the Tour.”
