CSN NE: What will or should Belichick say?

NBC on Yahoo! Sports

Bill Belichick will meet with the media today at 1:45 p.m ET. . . . but what will he say? Or what should he say?

That was the debate that CSNNE's Lou Merloni, Gary Tanguay and WEEI's Kirk Minihane had on Sports Tonight.

And things escalated quickly. Names were called. Feelings were hurt.

Tanguay thinks Belichick "owes an explanation to fans, media, and everybody watching on how and why a player under his watch is charged with murder."

Minihane couldn't disagree more - asking that if a Subway employee murdered somebody, would the manager owe an explanation on why he hired him?

Minihane says Tanguay is "full of crap", but then Tanguay said that Minihane is full of crap!

Loud noises! "The fact is a guy under his watch is charged with committing murder," Tanguay said.

"He's not a prison guard!" responded Minihane. "He's a football coach!"

"[Belichick's] the general manager," Tanguay said, "he's the runner of football operations and he should sit there and he should say, 'Look, this is what I knew about him, I'm sorry about the situation', and that's what he should say. And I'm going to say now that he should say more than a manager at Subway! To compare Bill Belichick to a manager at Subway is idiotic! You're a moron! That's ridiculous! That's inhumane! You're as cold-blooded as Belichick! You don't have a heart! You have no heart, you have no emotion. You are treating murder like the guy pulled a hamstring."

Minihane thinks Tanguay crossed the line there in the end.

"Gary, don't be a jerk," Minihane said. "Don't say that. Don't say that about me, that's crap. Don't say that. Don't say that. Shut up for a minute. Here's the thing: You say Belichick is not responsible for the murder, right? So you're asking Belichick to apologize for something he has no responsibility for. That's dumb!"

The debate rages on, but fellas . . . let's leave Subway out of this.
