Here's the Washington Wizards playing soccer and football (Videos)

Now, if they could just get that "basketball" thing down, they'd really have something going in D.C.

According to Michael Lee of the Washington Post, at one point Wizards big man Jan Vesely — who might be in for more minutes thanks to starting center Emeka Okafor being sidelined indefinitely with a herniated disc in his neck and who opened some eyes with a monster dunk on camp invitee Pops Mensah-Bonsu that teammate Nene said "looked like a nuclear explosion [and made] everybody curse at the same time" — kicked the soccer ball "so hard that the ball got trapped high in the bleachers," leading to this great paragraph:

Without thinking, and without shoes, Vesely began climbing up the bleachers to recover the ball as his teammates begged him to let it go. But a determined Vesely reached the top and stretched out his arm. He wasn’t going to give up on the ball, just as he hadn’t given up on himself.

An awesome anecdote, and proof positive that the 7-foot Czech jumping jack is someone you want on your side the next time you roof that peach.

Hat-tip to Dan Steinberg of the D.C. Sports Bog.
