Whenever a basketball player brings down the basket with a powerful dunk, fans immediately react to the sheer strength and spectacle of the feat. After that, though, our concern usually falls to anyone who may have been hurt in the process. While that usually doesn't happen, it's hard to get past the fact that, at least since arenas stopped using easily breakable glass, a player brings down an entire basket stanchion onto a minimum of himself. It's a dangerous thing.
Harlem Globetrotters member William "Bull" Bullard recently found this out the hard way. In one of the team's exhibitions in Honduras, Bullard rose up for an alley-oop off the backboard, pulled himself up while hanging on the rim, and unfortunately became the victim of the stanchion coming down. It was a scary scene, with the glass shattering upon impact with the floor and Bullard suffering a cut to his head. Watch the video below (via @jeskeets and Dime Mag).
Luckily, Bullard was able to return to the court and watch his teammates for the rest of the game once the basket was replaced. As usual, the fun we've come to associate with the Globetrotters continued. Luckily, no one put any of the broken glass into their bucket of confetti.
