The trucks get this weekend all to themselves in Darlington

This coming weekend is an off date for both the Sprint and Nationwide series. But fear not; you won't be faced with the possibility of a race-free weekend and, you know, working through that to-do list or actually talking to your family. No, the trucks are running this weekend at historic Darlington Raceway.

The Too Tough To Tame 200 will run on Saturday, and while most familiar names are going to be taking the weekend off, Kasey Kahne will take a turn behind the wheel for Kyle Busch Motorsports. All the big guns will be in Darlington for the Showtime Southern 500 on May 7, and this race will pave the way for that.

It's a slick move by Darlington, taking one of the few wide-open dates in the NASCAR schedule to draw attention to itself. (See? Worked here, didn't it?) And while last year's ticket sales for the August race were, uh, less than spectacular, with only about 15,000 estimated in attendance, hopefully the earlier date and cooler weather will spur some more business.

And if you're at home still jonesing for racing, you can watch Fox's "historic" 2011 Daytona 500 special. Marvel at how young Trevor Bayne looked in his unexpected victory! It was such a simpler time back then, wasn't it?
