A Sunday drive around Daytona Speedway with The Marbles

Here's a fine way to start a Daytona 500 day -- a little spin around Daytona International Speedway:

Daytona is the second-highest-banked track on the circuit; its 31 degrees rank behind only Talladega's 33. You don't know how steep that is until you slow to about 20 mph going through Turn 3, at which time you nearly fall down sideways in the car.

Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart prefer the low line at Daytona, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. prefers the high line. Either way, it's one hell of a fast track, and once you're on it, you start to realize how much more there is to this sport than driving fast and turning left. If you get the chance, drive it; it'll be free after about 5:00 this afternoon.
