A potential sponsor for Carl Edwards in 2015 is now no longer an option.

On Wednesday, Joe Gibbs Racing announced that M&Ms had re-signed with the team and specifically driver Kyle Busch. It was termed a multi-year deal.

“Mars has been a big part of the Joe Gibbs Racing family and we’re excited to continue what has become a winning relationship,” Joe Gibbs said in a statement. “Mars has been such an important partner to us throughout the past six plus seasons, and to have them continue their support inspires us as a team to work even harder every day. Everyone at JGR is committed to ensuring they experience the type of success on and off the track deserving of such a great company.”

Edwards is set to leave Roush Fenway Racing after the conclusion of the season and Joe Gibbs Racing is seen as his likely destination. A possible scenario for adding Edwards included Monster, a sponsor of Busch's in the Nationwide Series, moving up to sponsor Busch in Cup while the candy moved over to Edwards. However, that won't be the case and that scenario had a couple of interesting issues anyway. Primarily that Edwards, a workout freak, is sponsored by Subway and would be pitching chocolate.

M&Ms has been a sponsor of Busch's since he joined Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008. In 2011 when he was suspended for the Texas race weekend after crashing Ron Hornaday in the Truck Series race, M&Ms didn't sponsor the last two races of the season. Instead, Interstate Batteries was on the car. However, the company returned in 2012.
