This weekend at Pocono, Jamie McMurray will be sponsored by AXE. (For those of you who live in a cave, AXE makes body sprays, bodywashes and other male grooming products. They claim that if you use their hair products, women will uncontrollably want you and your hair. Let me speak from personal experience: that's definitely not the case.)
Anyway, McMurray's car will have a color changing hood. No, it won't change colors based on the angle that you're looking at it, but rather the temperature. I'll let the press release explain:
“Changing” Technology Applied to Car Paint Scheme: For the first time in the history of NASCAR, a car in competition on the race track will have a color changing paint scheme. The No.1 AXE Twist Chevrolet will feature a color-changing hood when it takes the green flag on Sunday, Aug. 1 at Pocono Raceway. The paint scheme is representative of the AXE Twist fragrance itself, which changes scents throughout the day. The vinyl used on the hood uses liquid crystals that can be accurately set to show color at specific temperatures and was specifically engineered to meet the exact temperature range needed to show changing colors on the hood of a NSCS car.
If anything, this confirms that McMurray -- who has already driven the Suave for Men car in a couple races -- is a worthy challenger to Tony Stewart for the best smelling driver in the garage. However, we'll be deprived of a Swagger vs. Twist smell off on Sunday as Stewart is scheduled to drive the Office Depot car.
