If A.J. Allmendinger is voted in to the All-Star Race, he'll do the worm

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – A.J. Allmendinger will dance if you vote for him. OK, if enough people vote for him.

Allmendinger said he'll do the worm if he gets voted in to the Sprint All-Star Race next weekend. There's just one problem, he's facing an uphill battle -- no, it's a cliff -- against the starpower that is Danica Patrick.

"Because they've got to be tired of voting for Danica, I really feel like," Allmendinger said Friday when he was asked why people should vote for him in the All-Star Race. "I'm a fun loving guy. I was with Miss Sprint Cup last week, we were talking about it. I said I would do the worm across the stage if I get voted in, bust a move, whatever."

What will he do if he races his way in? It's not a farfetched scenario, given the team's recent success. After running Toyotas previously, JTG-Daugherty Racing switched to Chevrolets and an alliance with Richard Childress Racing for the 2014 season.

He's 15th in the standings after finishing sixth at Richmond and fifth at Talladega.

"I'm trying not to get too high with where we are right now because there is so much time," Allmendinger said. "I will worry about possible Chase or where we are at in points when we are 20 races in, things like that. At the beginning of the year if you said coming into Kansas you are 15th, you are right on the edge, you have had three top 10s, you have been running well, I would have said 'Perfect, I'm happy with that.'

"I'm happy with where we are right now, but not satisfied. I know we have a lot of room to improve and a lof steps we need to improve on."
