That's now official, as it was announced on Friday afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway that Sadler would drive a full Nationwide Season with Kevin Harvick Inc. And -- coincidentally, perhaps -- after the announcement, Sadler won the pole for Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Texas, his first Cup pole since 2006.
Sponsorship for 29 of the 35 Nationwide races for Sadler's car will come from Citifinancial. Citi and Sadler ran 23 Nationwide races together in 2005 and 2006 when Sadler was driving for Robert Yates Racing.
The company scaled back its motorsports involvement after Citigroup, Citifinancial's parent company, was one of the recipients of the bank bailouts in 2008, and the U.S. government even took a stake in the firm.
Citifinancial is currently a partial-season primary sponsor for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The company's departure from Roush Fenway Racing leaves its Nationwide program with another sponsorship gap, as the Menard's sponsorship is leaving with Paul Menard to partially sponsor the No. 33 of KHI next season. With only partial season commitments from Citi and Con-Way Freight, Roush ran the No. 6 and No. 16 cars without sponsorship decals at times during the 2010 season.
Citi will also sponsor Sadler in the last race of the Nationwide season at Homestead.
