Chalk up another genre for Danica Patrick.
Patrick, who has been the focus of numerous magazine features and has posed for FHM and Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue, now has her own comic book. Bluewater Productions is releasing "Fame: Danica Patrick," a comic-book biography of Patrick's life.
Writer CW Cooke, who has also penned Bluewater's top-selling Taylor Swift biography comic, said that even the most devoted of fans will learn something new about Patrick after reading this book.
"We've all seen the pictures and heard the gossip about her," Cooke said. "But digging into her story and learning about her really focused me on the fact that she's a real person and not just a pin-up model or a one-note person."
Cooke hasn't created a white-washed version of Patrick's NASCAR performances, either. The comic covers the critics who say that Patrick hasn't had enough success on the track to deserve all the attention that she gets.
There's no word from Bluewater what superpowers Patrick will have (and no, the ability to win a NASCAR race is not a superpower) or if James Buescher will be the villain. Buescher and Patrick got together during the California Nationwide race and the following week, Patrick promised retribution if she and Buescher didn't continue to get along on the track. Buescher has maintained that the incident was an accident and not intentional.
The 32-page story will chronicle Patrick's life from her start in karting to her NASCAR career. Plus, Patrick's only the second sports figure that has been featured in a Bluewater comic. The other? David Beckham, perhaps the most popular athlete in the world.
