It’s Your 2013 Exit Interview: No. 4 Kyle Busch

Welcome to From the Marbles' 2013 driver reviews. Here, we're going to critique, praise and bloviate about the top 30 drivers in the 2013 NASCAR season.

Hi Kyle, have you been near Kasey Kahne at all this offseason? He hasn't mentioned having to file any car insurance claims, so it seems the two of you have done a good job staying separated.

That was not the case at the beginning of the season. Poor Kasey. And poor you. We don't think all that contact was intentional anyway. It just happened to be with the same driver.

That win out of nowhere at California was a great start to the season and we had you penciled into the Chase after Texas. Because of those two wins and the two you accrued in the summer, we didn't have to worry about whether or not you'd make the Chase, but rather got to fast forward and worry about how you would do in the Chase. But this was worth a chuckle or three.

Many times the storyline that everyone says to look for turns out to be a supporting one or even a nonfactor. For you it was how you could survive Kansas Speedway. The trendlines said you wouldn't. And they were right.

Let's go back to that intentional crashing thing for a moment. What the heck was that with Brad Keselowski? Anyway, he did a great job of planting the seed of retribution in your head. Though you proved the next day that he wasn't going to need that seed to sprout. You had crashed again.

The separation at that point in the Chase meant that you only fell to fifth, but your title hopes were gone once again. We must wait again until the next season.

We have no doubt you'll be a force and win a race or three or four. But it's going to come back to that track in the middle of the country again. If you're going to need it off the Chase schedule to make a run, you may be waiting a while.
