It's been a long strange trip, hasn't it? And before you think we're talking about your career, we're just talking about 2013. Maybe we should have had an inkling when your first department wouldn't accept the loan transfer paperwork from the JGR department to move you over there. Heck, it seemed like you were packed and ready to go. We know, bureaucratic red tape gets in the way sometimes.
And yet, somehow after that transfer was blocked after a (very) temporary move, your department had a change of heart and not only let you switch departments, but different sectors too. Hey, you got any Toyota gear laying around your place? We'd love to give it away as Christmas presents this year.
You ended up basically working 30 hours a week or so and you performance was better than five people who worked 40 a week and there were even a few more who also had more hours, so that's something to smile about. Though we do have to wonder how your transition that did go through affected your performance over the last part of this year. We were even wondering if we'd have one last victory party for you.
But enough about this year. We want to congratulate you on a fantastic career, one that spanned 882 races and 40 wins. Yeah sure, we know that you could end there, add 10 to the total or add another couple years worth to that total, but this time it feels right to reflect, don't you think?
We'll save the Hall of Fame argument for a day five years down the road from now. You've got many more workouts to take care of. Though we're confident that if you think the day for induction is coming in the future, you could go ahead and buy those tux pants now. Unless you think your quads won't fit in a few years.
