UFC won't do a boxing gate, but it treats the fans right

The UFC returns to Montreal on Saturday night for UFC 113. Why is Montreal now a yearly stop? Because it's a guarantee sellout and the city draws the best, most rabid fans in the world. UFC president Dana White made sure Thursday to point out that Montreal has been the home of the No. 3 and No. 5 all-time gates for UFC events. Yet those numbers pale in comparison to what the Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley fight did last week at $11.1 million.

Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole discusses why MMA still falls way short of where boxing lands with its biggest fights. Iole says MMA is more fan friendly and building a bigger future base by allowing more average fans into the building.

Iole also discussed some of the nuggets that White revealed during his media scrum following the UFC 113 press conference. He talked about "The Ultimate Fighter" slated for the Middle East, 2010 cards in England and Ireland, Randy Couture vs. James Toney, Anderson Silva on Spike, and Fedor Emelianenko's future.
