Heading into UFC 90, we knew very little about heavyweight contender Junior Dos Santos. All of his previous fights took place in Brazil, and he trained with Anderson Silva, the Nogueiras and Paulo Filho. That told us that he was in a great training camp, but not much else. Until this weekend, the UFC didn't even have a picture of him on their Web site. Then, Saturday night happened.
Knocking out Fabricio Werdum, a top heavyweight contender, is a nice way to introduce yourself to the world. Still, he is an enigma. I was impressed, but I was also impressed with Houston Alexander. Dos Santos will have to continue to prove himself against proven heavyweights. Still, it's fun to see more young prospects in the heavyweight division after it had been stagnant for so long.
