I love amateur wrestling and MMA too much to not share this video.
At the beginning of the video, Randy Couture triangle chokes Cael Sanderson, the greatest wrestler ever to take the collegiate mat. (Don't believe me? He went 159-0 in college, won a gold medal in the Olympics and has now rejuvenated Iowa State wrestling as its head coach.) Since wrestling in college has been a pipeline to MMA, many fans of both sports wondered how Cael would do in the Octagon. His strength on the mat was often his quickness and ability to come up with creative takedowns, two assets that would have helped him as a fighter. He wrestled at 184 and 197 lbs. in college, so he could have been a good fit for middleweight. Sanderson has said many times that he is a coach now and that is all, but seeing this video reminds me how much I loved seeing him compete. I can't help but wonder if he could be the fighter to challenge Anderson Silva.
