Diaz to fight Sakurai; reportedly faces suspension, fineMaggie HendricksMay 28, 2010 As he first mentioned when he spoke with Cagewriter, Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz wants one fight, and that's with UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre. That's too bad, because he's fighting Japanese MMA legend Hayato "Mach" Sakurai this weekend at Dream 14. Not only does he want to fight GSP, the Yahoo! Sports pound-for-pound king, but Diaz considers himself the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet. If he wants other people to jump on board with that idea, then he should take advantage of the bout with Sakurai this weekend. Because he might not have another fight for a while. The Tennessee Athletic Commission reportedly handed down suspensions stemming from the Strikeforce: Nashville brawl, and Diaz is reportedly one of those facing a three- or nine-month suspension, along with a fine of $5,000/$7,500 or $20,000, according to Sherdog.com.
