ESPN did a nice piece on UFC heavyweight prospect and former WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar. He indicated that one of the reasons he left wrestling was a borderline addiction to drinking and pain pills. The E60 piece done by Tom Farrey had a nice storybook feeling to it until the interviewer decided to ask Lesnar a question about steroids. Our favorite Brock, Cantankerous Brock, came to the surface as he stormed off the interview set. Lesnar is heard off-camera yelling:
"I have never failed a (expletive) drug test."
The former NCAA Division I wrestling champ does look considerably smaller now than he did when wrestled for Vince McMahon. Though part of that is a necessity because the upper limit for heavyweights in MMA is 265 lbs. Lesnar naturally walks around at 290 lbs. and probably wrestled professionally in excess of 300.
Snippy Brock made an appearance later in the piece. I doesn't take much to set the off the big guy. Lesnar was told about a Randy Couture comment saying that he's stronger now than he was 10 years ago. Lesnar responded:
"My ass he is. I'm 31 and I'm not as strong as I was 10 years ago. That's a straight up lie."
Farrey's question about steroids was perfectly acceptable. Lesnar's reaction was childish. I doubt he knows Farrey. If he did then I could understand why he was squeamish around the question. Afterall, it was Farrey who sandbagged Miguel Tejada about his age.
