Simply because last night's UFC card wasn't brutal enough now we find out that Razak Al Hassan's broken arm and Brandon Wolff's crushed skull were appetizers compared to the brutal entree that unfolded on the non-televised portion of the card. Up and coming prospect Corey Hill suffered an injury that sadly rivals the Moises Alou and Joe Theismann injuries on the gross-o-meter.
The gruesome nature of the injury really hits home when you hear the blood curdling scream from UFC color voice Joe Rogan. He saw the injury immediately and called for a stoppage. WARNING: This is not for the faint of heart.
UPDATE: Sam Caplan of FiveOuncesofPain.com is reporting that Hill is out 12-18 months with a broken tibia.
UFC has a tough situation on its hands. The organization is always trying to push the nuances and pure science of the fight game. With three vicious finishes on one card, the media could really run with this and do a hatchet job on mixed martial arts. When network television or sports channels like ESPN see this, will they request the actual video from Spike or the UFC? And will the duo cooperate?
Las Vegas radio listeners are sickos. They compiled a crazy list of Corey Hill-like injuries in sports: Shaun Livingston, Napoleon McCallum, Sid Vicious, Tyrone Prothro, Dave Dravecky, Franco Columbo, Tony Saunders, Clint Malarchuk and Jason Kendall were some of the names mentioned.
On a serious note, here's hoping that Hill recovers quickly. There's already rumors swirling that he may not fight ever again. Let's hope that's not the case.
