Minnesota Twins pitcher Mike Pelfrey is an alumnus of Wichita State, and a season-ticketing holding fan of the Shockers basketball team, which went into the NCAA basketball tournament as an undefeated No. 1 seed.
Recently, Pelfrey was called into the office of Twins skipper Ron Gardenhire and told that Wichita State had asked him to give a pep talk to the basketball team. Pelfrey was surprised and seemed hesitant, but Gardenhire got him on the phone anyway. Only, Pelfrey wasn't talking to the Wichita State, he was talking to Glen Perkins and a few other teammates in the Twins clubhouse.
You can watch the video to see what happened next. We do wonder whether Pelfrey was angrier when he found out the truth here, or when the Shockers got bounced from the tourney Sunday by Kentucky.
At least he'll laugh in the years to come when he remembers this.
