Editor's note: Our MLB Toasts got derailed during the stretch run and postseason, but we're back to say goodbye to the rest of the league. Follow @BigLeagueStew on Twitter and await our call for submissions for more toasts. Next up, the New York Yankees.
All things considered, 2013 wasn't so bad for the New York Yankees. At least in the standings. Not considering everything head-shaking thing that happened to them.
Had you said before season that Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira and Kevin Youkilis would miss most of the season, Curtis Granderson would miss substantial time and Alex Rodriguez would wage war against MLB, we wouldn't have pegged the Yankees as an 85-win team. But they were. And they deserve a toast.
To the Yankees, who were so hurt this season even their GM broke himself. To the Yankees, so beloved by their fans that a dude is willing to do this. And to the Yankees, for having a guy strike out on two pitches. To the Yankees, for bring some STFU to MLB. And, of course, to the Yankees, for giving us a year-long Mariano Rivera party.
We're not going to bogart this toast. Here's what a couple of people had to say about the 2013 Yankees. Add your own toast in the comments.
