Editor's note: Our MLB Toasts got derailed during the stretch run and postseason, but we're back to say goodbye to the rest of the league. Follow @BigLeagueStew on Twitter and await our call for submissions for more toasts. Next up, the Tampa Bay Rays.
Like they so often do, the Tampa Bay Rays hung around this season, not fully hitting their potential, but making things interesting. They made a late run to get into the playoffs, won a wild-card game and then got stomped by the eventual World Series-winning Boston Red Sox.
A 92-71 record is about normal for the Rays, in fact they've averaged 91.6 wins over the past six seasons. A toast to consistency, guys. Oh, but there is more to toast from 2013.
A toast to the Rays, for making a bobblehead of David Price's dog. For having a manager cool enough to buy beer for fans. For getting another Rookie of the Year. To the Rays, for always giving us those wacky dress-up days. And for having a not-so-good to-do list. Oops. To the Rays, for giving us one of the most "aw shucks" moments of 2013. And that wasn't even when they brought penguins to the ballpark.
We're not going to bogart this toast. Here's what a couple of people had to say about the 2013 Rays (kinda). Add your own toast in the comments.
