Editor's note: Our MLB Toasts got derailed during the stretch run and postseason, but we're back to say goodbye to the rest of the league. Follow @BigLeagueStew on Twitter and await our call for submissions for more toasts. Next up, the Kansas City Royals.
The Royals won 86 games in 2013, the most for the franchise since 1989. They looked like a playoff contender there for a short time, and that was fun for a city that hasn't seen the postseason since 1985. Cheers to you, Royals.
A toast to the Royals, for finding good luck in bottles of barbecue sauce and hypnotic bellies. To the Royals, for feeling like you won the World Series even though you didn't make the playoffs. To the Royals, for giving us George Brett, then taking him away.
We're not going to bogart this toast. Here's what a few people had to say about the 2013 Royals. Add your own toast in the comments.
